Now that the sun has finally started to creep back into our lives, albeit temporarily, it’s time that we take a look at the Spring and Summer fashion trends of this year. What better way for us to push through the last few days of cold and rain, than start shopping for new outfits that we will hopefully be able to wear when and if quarantine ends? With this years’ first fashion weeks over, we can finally take a look back at what brands have been putting on the runway, ranging from high-luxury to more commercial pieces. I also want to point out that TikTok and Instagram fashion trends have definitely been on my radar, and I’ve been loving seeing all the fashion content that people have been putting out on those platforms. I wanted to wrap-up the trends that I will try to adopt into my spring and summer wardrobe, so that you can take inspiration and feel like your best self for the highly anticipated beginning of warm weather. Let’s take a look!
Mini-Skirts
I can’t help but think back to the 90’s fashion period when I see mini skirts making a comeback. I am so excited about this trend because I think mini skirts are the perfect feminine piece that can be dressed down with an oversized top or dressed up with a pair of heels that will help make your legs look like they go on for days. One of the piece’s styles that is popping back into the fashion universe is the pleated mini skirt, which gives off a tennis skirt vibe and I have to say, I am a big fan. This fashionable item can be worn to the office, if styled properly, as well also dressed down, for your grocery run paired with a simple sweatshirt and sneakers. You can even start adopting this new trend on rainy and cold days. There is nothing chicer than a black mini skirt paired with tights and a pair of boots. Hot Pants / Shorts
Hot pants shorts are back. Just like the miniskirt, I am loving wearing them so much. I love pairing a white shirt over them so that it looks like a dress, as well as with a tall pair of lace-up boots. They are the perfect transitional bottom piece for your outfit since you can also wear them with tights, as it’s only the beginning of the spring/summer there are still a few cold rainy days. 90’s Transparency & Straps
Again, 1990’s make a comeback, and not only through the miniskirts! I cannot get enough of the transparency pieces that elevate my everyday outfits. Ranging from shirts, tops, and dresses, this transparency trend is one I will not be letting go any time soon. It is the perfect way to cover up and still show some skin. Another 1990s fashion trend that is making a comeback is strappy details in clothes. This one is incredibly popular. From Jacquemus’ shirt tops to strappy wrap-around skirts, I cannot get enough of it. Give me all the strappiness! This spring and summer fashion trend is one I have already adopted and that I have been, more than I should, shopping to add to my wardrobe.
